Clean Origin was a fast-growing lab-grown diamond retailer with 52,000 SKUs — each with a unique combination of cut, clarity, carat, and setting requiring individual margin tracking. As the company scaled from online-only to omnichannel with six physical stores, their data landscape grew increasingly fragmented.
Sales data lived in Magento. Physical stores ran on separate POS systems. Marketing spend, product catalogs, promotions, geographic data, and customer service metrics were scattered across 20+ sources — including multiple platforms that evolved as the business grew.
The lack of a unified view meant the leadership team couldn’t answer fundamental questions: Which products have the highest margins? Where should we spend marketing dollars? Is opening a physical store worth it? What’s a customer worth over their lifetime?

- Data Ingestion: Connected 20+ data sources using Fivetran — including e-commerce (Magento), point-of-sale systems (KWI, Square), loyalty (Swell), accounting (Xero), customer service (Gladly), and dozens of supplementary datasets for product categorization, geographic analysis, and promotions
